The arrival of Benjamin Sesko at Manchester United is one that is welcomed by all at the club. However one player, is set to be shown the exit due to his arrival.
Manchester United over the weekend confirmed officially, the signing of Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for a fee of €76.5m plus €8.5m addons. This signing has been well received from many in and around the club, as he is seen as an upgrade and a more potent striker, to the ones already available at Manchester United. However, his arrival at the club only spells the end of the road for Rasmus Hoijulund who has been told by club officials and Ruben Amorim that he is surplus to requirements at the club.

Rasmus Hoijulund was signed from Atalanta in the 2023/2024 season under Erik ten Hag, with high potential and a good promise to make it to the top. He started his first season at Manchester United, scoring 16 goals across all competitions, which was a good start in his first season. Whilst most players brought in from other leagues struggle with adaptation to English football, Rasmus did not show any sign of struggle.
Due to his good performance in his first season, many people tipped him to do even better and smash the stats in his second season. But as expectations skyrocketed, he shockingly delivered an abysmal performance in his second season, much to the dismay of coaches, fans and teammates at Manchester United.
The question on the mind of many was,”What went wrong?” Hoijulund struggled with confidence due to his hard luck of finding the back of the net for a long time, going many matches without struggling. He struggled with linkup play, hold up play to missing clear cut chances presented to him. I
t was no surprise when his teammates lost faith in him and often preferred to go for goal themselves, rather than creating for him. It became evident that, Manchester United could not afford tobe patient with him anymore as they needed to replace him immediately with a more potent center forward. Hence, the signing of Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko,22, is seen as the right striker going forward, scoring 13 league goals for Leipzig last season. He is seen as more potent striker, who is fit for the tactical instruction of the gaffer. His insticts as a striker is incredible to behold. His strong areal presence, incredible shot power on both feet, his vertical movements, and ability to find spaces behind defenders; are testament to the fact that he is the right man to lead the Manchester United attack for the upcoming season.

Despite, reiterating 12 days ago of his desire to stay, Rasmus Hoijlund has been told by Amorim that he needs to leave the club as he has fallen the pecking order at United. The player has reluctantly accepted the news and is said to be ready to make a move elsewhere.
Italian side, AC Milan, under Maximilliano Allegri has approached United for Rasmus on loan. An offer of €4m, has been presented to United. AC Milan have also offered to cover all the salary demands of the player. The representatives of Rasmus are looking into the proposal, alongside all other proposals on the table to make a move.
The Rasums Hoijulund-Manchester United story, which began on a very beautiful note is set to come to a disappointing end. End of an era!
