Manchester United have been making a lot of moves in this summer’s transfer window, which is aimed at resolving positions that were seen as major problems that caused the team to sink very low on the league log last season. One of such positions that was a major contributing factor to the failure of the club last season, is the Goalkeeping. And it is no wonder it is a major position of concern to the Old Trafford officials as they seek to resolve that problem.

Antwerp Goalkeeper Lammens have been targeted and a deal for the player is being worked on. According to reports, United are advancing well on the deal, and is said to have reached a verbal agreement on personal terms. If United are able to reach a verbal agreement with the player, the feeling is that reaching an deal with Antwerp will not be difficult, as the Belgian side only want a fee in the region of €9.8 million and €10.9 million.

With Andre Onana’s impending participation in the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Morocco, it is imperative for United to bring in a new goalkeeper to cover him in his absence. Altay Bayindir is another option, however he’s seen as weak option, given his abysmal performance in goal last season. His first game showing against Arsenal has also put him further in doubt, as many still feel he is not a reliable option going forward, hence, the need for a more reliable option.

Lammens moved from Club Brugge to Royal Antwerp in 2023, and have had incredible performances, which did not fail to catch the eye of many top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United. He is a 6″3 goalkeeper. He is a goalkeeper who is loud and often takes command of his defenders, especially in the penalty box. He is also known at a goalkeeper who is very good at reading the game and often knows when to come off his line, when to catch the ball once and when to punch.

According to reports, Manchester United had not intended to sign a goalkeeper this summer, but plans are said to have been altered after the Arsenal game, which still exposed the goalkeeping department even further. Initially, Manchester United had set their sights on PSG outcast, Gianluigi Donnarumma, but, decided against the signing after being discouraged by the keeper’s high salary demands.

Senne Lammens, however, is said to be excited by the prospect of playing for Manchester United in the English Premier League. Manchester United and Royal Antwerp are now locked in negotiations over the finalisation of the deal. The Belgian side are demanding for a fee in excess of €20 million.
