European Champions Paris Saint-Germain has omitted Donnarumma from UEFA Super Cup squad to face Spurs, amid fallout with the Goalkeeper.
Paris Saint-Germain has not included Donnarumma to the UEFA Super Cup Squad set to face Tottenham Hotspurs, who are the current holders of the UEFA Europa League. This move is due to the player’s refusal to sign a contract extension with the Parisian club. There has been a major fallout since then, with both parties failing to compromise for each other.

The Goalkeeper, on the contract extension, had requested that the club put him on the same salary level as most of his teammates like Dembele, Vitinha, Hakimi and the likes. This demand came after the squad won their first Chamions League trophy, to which the player feels he was an intergral and one of the important figures in the squad that propelled PSG to lifting the ultimate trophy of the season, together with winning the Ligue 1 and the League cup.
This demand was one that felt far fetched from the club, as they could not upgrade the goalkeeper unto those salary levels. Besides, granting the player’s wish was only going to increase his salary way too much, which the club were not ready to grant.
During several meetings in attempt to find a common ground, PSG had presented a contract to Donnarumma, which was going to increase his wages significantly but still below the salary expectations of the player. With both parties failing to come to an agreement over an extension, it became clear that PSG will have to find a Goalkeeper this window and sell Donnarumma this summer or risk losing him for free next summer.
With the current situation at hand, PSG went to the market and got a new goalkeepr to replace Donnarumma as it became clear they cannot count on the availability and loyalty of the keeper. PSG has signed Lille Goalkeepr Chavelier, who was brought in to be the new number 1 at PSG, this season. PSG, announcing their squad for the Super Cup clash, have ommited Gianluigi Donnarumma, as the keeper seeks a move away from the club.
PSG have slapped a fee of €26 m on the keeper, for all clubs interested in acquiring the services of the Italian Goalkeeper. Manchester United and Chelsea have all made enquiries about the conditions of the deal, with United said to be at the forefront. The player in question, according to reports has expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford this summer. It remains to be seen if a move can materialise, with many attributing his omission to something concrete happening in his bid to move away from PSG.
