FC Barcelona has reinstated Marc Andre Ter Stegen as club captain, after stripping him off the captaincy earlier this week.
Marc André Ter Stegen, has been reinstated as captain of Barcelona, after the captaincy was taken away from him due to some purported misunderstanding between the player and the club.

Prior to his surgery, Ter Stegen announced that his surgery will keep him out of action for at least 3 to 4 months. This period was ideal for Barça to use the opportunity to register other players they have bought, due to their inability to get back to the 1:1 rule.
However, several tabloids associated to Barcelona have reported that Ter Stegen is unwilling to sign the medical report, that could have allowed Barça to submit to La Liga, to be allowed to register players. This came as unwelcome news to the Barça hierarchy.

Barcelona’s hierarchy responded to this, by stripping the captaincy from the goalkeeper, and handing it over to Ronald Aruajo. However, there seemed to have been a settling of the matter, as the player came out to clear the air, yesterday, in a post on instagram.
Ter Stegen wrote: “ Dear Culers,
I wear the colors and jersey of FC Barcelona with great pride, whether on or off the pitch, in moments of success and in difficult times. Today is a personally difficult day for me.
Physically and athletically, I feel in very good shape, although unfortunately I am not free from pain. After intensive discussions with the FC Barcelona medical team and external experts, the quickest and safest way for me to fully recover is through back surgery.
After my last operation on my back, I returned to the pitch after 66 days-almost two months; this time, the doctors believe about three months will be necessary as a precaution, to avoid any risks.
Emotionally, it hurts a lot not being able to support the team during this time.
Fortunately, the rehabilitation is manageable and the road back is clear.
I will keep you updated on my recovery and I sincerely want to thank you all, dear Culers, for always being by my side.
Don’t worry—I’ll be back!
Yours,
Marc”
Following this post, Ter Stegen has signed his medical report which will allow Barcelona to register other players. This gesture has come as a good news to the Barça faithfuls. He has now been reinstated as captain of the club.
Ter Stegen is expected to be out for 3 – 4 months.
